Charity Action for Serbian Orphans in Kosovo

At the June meeting of SCAM, reviewed were new facts respecting our action of raising funds for Serbian children who live in Kosovo today without one or both parents. This action was initiated in June 2008, and it had been very successful.

These children were born either in Kosovo or in Bosnia and Croatia, which they fled because of the war atrocities during the 1990s. Their parents perished in wars or of famine. The situation of these children worsened with the unilateral declaration of secession of Kosovo by Albanian separatists in February 2008.

Informative Protest "Remember and Think!"

On March 28, 2009, SCAM organized an informative protest around Millennium Library in the Winnipeg downtown. This event marked the 10th anniversary of NATO's air war against FR Yugoslavia (Serbia-Montenegro) in order to warn against repeating this sort of aggression in the future. The SCAM members and sympathizers dispatched about 600 fliers and pamphlets and talked with a number of citizens.

On March 24, 1999, NATO launched a 78 day-long air war against FR Yugoslavia (Serbia-Montenegro). Unprovoked and countering NATO's contemporary charter, this war claimed thousands of military and civilian victims and crippled Yugoslav economy. Here is a brief description of the war. Here is a commentary on the war.

A number of experts   have characterized the NATO 1999 war as illegal and criminal. See this accusation by an international panel of experts.

Observing the 90th Anniversary of Breaking through the Thessaloniki Front

On September 28, the Serbian community in Manitoba marked the 90th Anniversary of the Break through the Thessaloniki Front, which happened in September 1918. This great victory of the Serbian Army was decisive in breaking the Central Forces in south-east Europe and it contributed to ending World War I in late 1918.

At the meeting, part of a documentary movie was shown and a presentation on the Thessaloniki Front was delivered.
